The RDL Seed Library is back again beginning Wednesday March 6, 2024.
How to check out seeds:
1) Choose up to four (4) veggie seeds and one (1) pollinator seed. Write down your library card number & the varieties you are taking on the check out slip. 2) Bring the packets up to the front desk to sign the check-out sheet. 3) Plant your seeds and enjoy your plants!
4) If you’d like, share seeds from your harvest back to the seed library for next season.
A word on POLLINATORS
Planting flowers in your vegetable garden is an excellent strategy to help your vegetables thrive and increase your harvest.
Certain flowers, like zinnias, can attract insects such as ladybugs which prey on pests.
Some flowers, like petunias and marigolds, can keep pests at bay.
Flowers like zinnias, sweet alyssum, and cosmos attract bees and other pollinators to help spread pollen and encourage the growth of vegetables.
More info on pollinators can be found at RDL.
